It’s another weekend of MLS action and I’m here to give both my MLS weekend accumulator and my BTTS MLS accumulator. Last weekend we were let down by Cincinnati, who somehow managed to lose 3-0 as favourites, and top of the league. Nevertheless, this weekend’s 4-fold is a massive 30/1 with Bet365. Let’s get straight into the thick of it with the free football tips accumulator.
CF MONTREAL vs New York City FC (12:30 AM BST, Sunday 2nd July)
I start with CF Montreal taking on New York City FC. Montreal come into this match in 8th position in the Eastern Conference. New York City are now 13th in the standings. There are 5 points between the two teams but Montreal have a game-in-hand over NYC.
Montreal got a 0-0 draw with Charlotte last weekend. It was their third clean sheet in a row in the MLS after 1-0 and 4-0 wins over Nashville and Minnesota, respectively. Both of those recent wins were at home where they have a better record. They’ve now won 6 in a row at home and all without conceding a goal.
New York drew 1-1 with Portland Timbers last weekend away from home. They haven’t won now in 6 MLS matches but they’ve drawn every single one of them. So, at least they have points on the board. They’ve drawn 4 and lost 1 in their last 5 MLS away matches. However, that winless away run stretches back much further, with New York not winning away since October 23rd. That was 12 matches ago.
This has to be a Montreal pick.
Inter Miami CF vs AUSTIN FC (12:30 AM BST, Sunday 2nd July)
My second selection is an outsider but I think that can only be because they’re away from home as Inter Miami CF look hopeless right now. I think Austin FC are a great price to win this one.
Inter Miami are still awaiting the time when Lionel Messi can play but in the meantime, they’re bottom of the Eastern Conference and have won just 5 from 18 this season, scoring 17 and conceding 28. They’ve lost their last two matches 4-1 and 3-1. Both of these matches were away from home but they’ve also lost their last 3 home matches too.
Austin are 8th in the Western Conference. They’ve won 7 matches in 19 and lost 8. They’ve scored 24 goals this season and have conceded 27 goals. Austin are hitting some decent form right now though. They’ve won back-to-back MLS matches by a 3-0 scoreline with 3-0 wins over Houston Dynamo and Dallas. Both of those wins came at home. Austin’s away form is not as good though with back-to-back defeats to both Sporting Kansas (4-1) and also Houston Dynamo (2-1)
It does look like a close match between the pair but I do think that Austin looks the value here. They won the last head-to-head meeting by a 5-1 score against Inter Miami and until Messi is available for Inter, I think they’ll continue to struggle.
NASHVILLE SOCCER CLUB vs DC United (1:30 AM BST, Sunday 2nd July)
The third selection is Nashville SC to beat DC United. DC are a strange old team. They scuppered my treble last weekend by beating the team top of the table 3-0. That came after just 1 win in 4, in the MLS. Nevertheless, DC United are a good team on their day. DC are currently 9th in the Eastern Conference. As mentioned, they beat Cincinnati 3-0 last weekend, however, that was at home. If we look at their away record then they’ve only beaten bottom-placed Inter Miami in the last 5 MLS matches. Going back further shows DC have 3 away wins in their last 10 games on the road.
Nashville are currently 3rd in the Eastern Conference and have won half of their matches this season whilst scoring 28 goals and conceding just 16 times. It’s the lowest goals-conceded number in the Eastern. They’ve won their last 5 MLS home matches in a row and have lost just once in their last 10 at home. That solitary loss came to table-topping Cincinnati. Ironically, that is also who DC beat last weekend.
If we look at the head-to-head record between the two teams then we’ll see a strong advantage for Nashville. They’ve met 6 times in the past and Nashville are unbeaten in all 6 encounters. However, the last match was a 1-1 draw. At home, at this stadium, we’ve seen two head-to-head matches that Nashville won. Scoring 6 goals combined in those.
FC Dallas vs LOS ANGELES FC (1:30 AM BST, Sunday 2nd July)
The 4th and final selection this weekend will be Los Angeles FC winning away to FC Dallas. Dallas find themselves in 7th place in the Western Conference and have 7 wins from 19 games. They take on Los Angeles, who are 2nd in the table, joint on 32 points with top-placed St Louis City SC, but with a game in hand.
Despite being so high in the table, Los Angeles have just 2 wins in their last 5 and lost last weekend 3-2 to Vancouver at home. However, I think they can bounce back here and have won 2 of their last 3 away matches. They beat Sporting Kansas 2-1 away from home last weekend and beat Real Salt Lake 3-0 back in May. Dallas have just one win in their last 5 in the MLS, which was a solid 2-0 win over St Louis. It was Dallas’s 3rd win in their last 5 at home.
Despite that, Los Angeles won the last time these two met and I think they will grab a tight win.
