It’s a brand new season on the domestic football calendar as we get ready for the 2023/24 Premier League season. It was a thrilling end to last season as Arsenal held the top spot for such a long period only to see Manchester City step in and take the top spot. The Citizens would then go on to win the treble by securing the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League.
We’ve seen some signings for the new season and a number of friendly matches have already been played. The fixtures have been out for a decent period and the FA Community Shield is around the corner. I’ve gone through to see if I can spot any ‘season bets’ that look to be great value, this season. Here are my free Premier League tips for the upcoming season in the top flight of English football.
Title Winner Predictions
Arsenal did so much of the hard work last season and then flaked near the finish line, as they’ve previously done on several occasions. Some would say they bottled it. Others would say that they didn’t have the squad depth. Either way, they’ve made a few signings in Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber, and Kai Havertz and that will make them a better team. The departure of the experienced Granit Xhaka leaves a bit of a gap in midfield in terms of fight and hunger. We’ve already seen in a pre-season friendly that the Gunners could perhaps be missing that component. Still, at 5/1 and, in some places, 11/2 on them winning the title, it has to be seen as decent value.
My money is going elsewhere though and that is to Old Trafford. I think Manchester United have a real chance of getting back into the top 2 this season and if they get a bit of luck on their side then who knows? Perhaps a title win.
Manchester City are obviously an awesome unit but I question the desire of the coming season after a treble-winning campaign and they have lost an absolute beast in midfield in the shape of Ilkay Gundogan. With rumours of Riyad Mahrez, Kyle Walker, and Bernardo Silva also off it’s going to be a slightly different-looking City. I’m not saying that it means they don’t win the league. If they have the hunger then it’s theirs to lose. However, United look to me the value.
Manchester United have a real creative wizard in the middle in Bruno Fernandes. In terms of creating chances, he leads everybody. That includes Kevin De Bruyne. If the Red Devils have Marcus Rashford fit and playing well and they can bring in another striker, then I’m happy to take the 11/1 e/w. That way we also have the 2nd place finished covered in there.

Golden Boot Tips
Last season, the Golden Boot was won by Manchester City striker Erling Haaland. Easily! He scored 36 goals and that was 6 more goals than Tottenham’s second-placed Harry Kane. Brentford frontman Ivan Toney was then a further 10 goals behind Kane. So, it shows the difference in results last season, in terms of goalscoring candidates. Whilst potentially we could be looking at a similar kind of result (Haaland could once again smash everybody), it’s probably worth looking for a bigger price to get the placing money and also have a shot. After all, you never know what kind of injuries are around the corner.
Marcus Rashford scored 17 goals last season for Manchester United and I think they’ll have a stronger season with signings like Mason Mount and Andre Onana in goal. Manchester United have sold Anthony Elanga and are looking for a striker but I think even if United went and bought Kane, it would only add to Rashford’s goals. I think he looks like some value this season.
Much like Rashford, Kane was also up there in the top scorers section. Both Rashford and Kane have high shots on target. Kane had the most shots on target (1 more than Haaland) and Rashford was third, with Haaland sandwiched between them. There is talk of Kane going to United but, either way, I think he’s also valued to win the Golden Boot this season.
Aston Villa marksman Ollie Watkins is my penultimate punt based on the Premier League free betting odds listed across the market. Watkins scored 15 goals last season but Villa turned the corner with a manager change bringing in Unai Emery and with a full pre-season under his belt I think Watkins will score more. He was up there for shots and big chances missed last season. If he gets a few better players around him this season then I can see him breaking 20 goals.
Finally, I’ll take a bet on the impressive-looking Nicolas Jackson. He has looked like a great signing for Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino and has scored in each pre-season friendly. He is young and fast and also has good strength.

Relegation Candidates
Let’s look now to the bottom of the Premier League table. It’s always hard to know what we’re going to get from the new boys coming up from the Championship. Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton will all aim to stick around for their first year whilst the likes of Bournemouth, Wolves, Nottingham Forest, and Everton must all be expecting another fight at the bottom after avoiding the drop last season.
Wolves look in danger to me. They’ve just sold Raul Jimenez and, to me, they look weaker right now than they did last season. Wolves had relied on some solid home form last season but when that went at the back end, things went south and I think they’ll struggle for goals. The other team that I think will struggle is Crystal Palace. They’ve just allowed star man Wilfried Zaha to leave and join Galatasaray and there is also talk that Michael Olise could be leaving. If that is the case then I’m sure that the Eagles are going to struggle because Olise got just 1 less assist last season than Mohamed Salah, who finished in 4th in the assist chart last season.
I think Luton will go down along with potentially Sheffield United but in terms of value, I also think Bournemouth and Forest look in danger. Steve Cooper’s side is another team that just lacks goals. And they concede them, too. No new signings yet and conceding 68 goals from 38 matches last season does not bode well.
Finally, Everton are also a team that has every chance of going down. Without a fit Dominic Calvert-Lewin, I think Everton will find it hard going and you can find them at a great price with one of the Premier League online betting offers available. They stayed up by just 2 points last season and this time there is no Southampton to push them up the table. There’s no denying that was an improvement under Sean Dyche last season after Frank Lampard left the club but has it been enough of an improvement?

Golden Glove Betting Pick
This was won last season by David De Gea for Manchester United and yet his replacement at the club in the form of former Ajax and Inter Milan number one Andre Onana is 7/1 to win it this coming season. I don’t get it. I think Erik Ten Hag’s team are going to be a better team this season and I really rate Onana. He can have the ball played to feet, he’s intelligent, and he can play the high line. I can’t see why the Red Devils will let more goals in this coming season.
Manchester City’s Ederson is currently the bookies’ favourite at a best price of 5/4 and that’s understandable given Pep Guardiola’s men conceded a joint division-low of 33 league goals last season. However, Newcastle also conceded just 33 league goals last season and Nick Pope is only priced at a top price of 14/1. Other potential candidates such as Liverpool’s Alisson, Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale, and Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga just don’t seem to offer the potential value of Onana.

Best Bet of the Rest
My other bet is a very big price and it’s a double of Manchester United to win the league and Harry Kane to be the top goalscorer. Yes, it’s unlikely but most 66/1 shots that you go with are going to be unlikely. If United get their wallet out and go and buy Kane then this 66/1 would go to about 6/1. So, I can’t ignore that price. Even if Kane stays at Spurs then this is too big at 66/1.
