Brookie won a two-mile maiden on soft ground at the first time of asking this season for Tony Martin and Liam McKenna at Limerick. He worked his way into the race nicely last time and no surprises if he can improve again. The front two in the race pulled some six lengths clear of the remainder of their field suggesting that the form would be worth following. Sixhandsinmypocket and Indulging both finished in behind that day and have come out and put up good efforts since albeit in defeat. Peter Carberry takes over in the saddle and this gelded son of Policy Maker can make his presence felt.
2-20 @ Leopardstown – Fil D’or (1/1)
Fil D’or is an exciting horse and he got the better of Saint Roi on what was his chasing debut at Navan last month. The latter made the running but his three-years-younger rival was always keeping him in his sights. The Gordon Elliott trained grey made his move three out and once hitting the front kept on gamely to record a four length success. Asides from one brief error his jockey commented that he was near enough foot perfect. His rivals here once more will not find it easy conceding weight all around to such a talented youngster. Jack Kennedy chooses him over Hollow Games and the hint has to be followed.
2-50 @ Market Rasen – Bangers And Cash (7/1)
Bangers And Cash is an out and out stayer and you would expect that with him being a son of Fame And Glory. The lightly raced six-year-old has won two handicap chases in similar ground, the most recent of which came at Exeter last month. Prominent from the outset, he travelled like a dream for Kielan Woods and the Ben Pauling trained runner piled the pressure on straight from the start, His rivals had absolutely no answer when all of a sudden he was fourteen lengths clear. There is every likelihood that there is further improvement yet to come and this extra half mile will suit. A lot of these rivals are still yet to establish themselves this season and he can take full advantage. Potentially he is still well treated and he is a threat to all.
3-13 @ Wincanton – Steal A March (3/1)
Steal A March has been a model of consistency for Nicky Henderson and ran a perfectly respectable race upon his seasonal return at Newbury around a month ago. He was off the track for almost six months and it showed for a while before his sheer guts and determination kicked into a lead on the home turn. Steal A March was strongly pressed in the closing stages by Abuffalosoldier and he only gave way in the dying strides. It is likely that there is much more to come from His Majesty’s seven year-old son of Mount Nelson. This three-mile trip is well within his scope and not that he is fully race fit, he should go well for an in form stable.
