It feels like we’ve barely had a chance to catch our breath after last weekend’s action, but the Premier League rolls into town once again. In this article, I have provided my top BTTS tips in the Premier League this weekend. I like to broaden my range somewhat and pick out a Both Teams To Score Accumulator and best bets for the weekend. Covering the entirety of the Premier League fixtures over Game Week 36. So, let’s get down to business.
5-fold BTTS accy @ 12/1 with Bet365
Leeds vs Newcastle – BTTS (YES) – 12:30 pm BST, Saturday
We start with a match that has the chance of being an upset. Leeds performed admirably against Manchester City but the bottom line was, Manchester City needed the win too much and I honestly think that if it was week 2 of 3 of the Premier League season, we may have seen a different result. Whilst Newcastle also will want to win this one and will want to bounce back from a defeat last weekend, I just wonder if ‘Big Sam’s Escape Plan’ kicks off Saturday afternoon.
That being said, Newcastle are a top team and scores goals. We’ve seen BTTS in 65% of Leeds’s home games this season. That’s before Big Sam comes in. However, they’ve kept just 5 clean sheets. Newcastle have seen BTTS away from home, 59% of the time and Newcastle have failed to score away just 6 times. I think this match should see both teams scoring.
Southampton vs Fulham – BTTS (YES) – 3:00 pm BST, Saturday
Whilst Southampton are bottom of the league and this is a match that I think they’ll also lose, they do tend to score at home. They’ve seen BTTS at St Mary’s 59% of the time this season and they’ve Failed to Score just 35% of the time. They face Fulham, who are now in the top half of the Premier League table.
Fulham have seen BTTS away from home 53% of the time, this season. They’ve Failed to Score away just 29% of the time, though. So when you look at these stats and you look at their last result in the Premier League (N.Forest 4-3 Southampton & Fulham 5-3 Leicester) then we can see that this one has a good shout.
Everton vs Manchester City – BTTS (YES) – 2:00 pm BST, Sunday
My third selection is the huge match at Goodison, on Sunday. Everton will know the result of Southampton, Leeds & Nottingham Forest around them so this match could really be a deciding one for Everton. Yes, it’s going to be a tough one to get anything out of because City needs the points. However, the fact that City has this match sandwiched between a massive Champions League Semi-Final means that I think Everton, at home, needing the win, get a goal.
We know City are going to score, they do it all the time and have failed to score away just twice this season. I can see this one being 2-1/3-1 City but either way, I think we’ll see BTTS.
Arsenal vs Brighton – BTTS (YES) – 4:30 pm BST, Sunday
Arsenal take on Brighton on Sunday, at 4.30 pm. The match is straight after the Everton vs Manchester City match and so Arsenal could, technically, go back to the top of the table with a win, here. If that’s not the case, they’ll need a win to keep the pace going into the final fortnight. I think we’ll see both teams scoring here. Arsenal have only failed to score at home this season once. Brighton has failed to score away this season once. It screams BTTS.
It’s never that simple of course but when you have such strong stats at this then you have to take them for what they are. I can see a potential banana-skin for Arsenal in this one but Brighton is also a very random team. Winning 6-0 one week and then losing 6-0 the next.
Leicester vs Liverpool – BTTS (YES) – 8:00 pm BST, Monday
Let’s conclude this Accumulator with Leicester, at home, taking on Liverpool. Leicester needs something here, they’re 2pts away from 17th and they have just 3 matches remaining. They’re not fun fixtures, too. Liverpool, Newcastle & West Ham. With that in mind, there is no waiting around for perfect home fixtures against the bottom 5 teams. They can beat big teams on their day and this day needs to come on Monday.
That being said it doesn’t matter to us if they win or not, it’s if they can both score. Liverpool have seen BTTS away from home 53% of the time this season but Leicester concede a lot of goals. Leicester have kept a clean sheet at home just 3 times. Only bottom-placed Southampton are worse.
Leicester at home, has seen BTTS 47% of the time. They’ve failed to score at home 7 times though (41%) and that’s the worst record in the league, also. I’m going on a hunch here that Leicester needs goals. If we look back at their last 5 results, they’ve scored in all five matches and also scored in 9 of the last 10 and so whilst stats are important, getting the right stats is even more important.
