Let’s now look at the BTTS markets. Last weekend, the BTTS lost with Nashville not scoring against Columbus Crew in the first leg and so a letdown for goals. I’ll go again this weekend though. We’re in July and the summer is here. Let’s get going for another weekend of MLS action. Here are my thoughts along with the best football odds for the BTTS selections this weekend in the US.
Orlando City vs Chicago Fire – BTTS (YES) – 12:30 AM BST, Sunday 2nd July
The first selection is Orlando City taking on Chicago Fire. Orlando have scored in 4 of the last 5 MLS matches. They’ve scored in 5 out of their last 5 home matches and not lost any of them, winning 2 and drawing 3.
Chicago Fire have won their last 2 away matches but more importantly, they’ve scored in 3 of their last 5 matches away and 5 out of 5 of their last MLS matches. They’ve only failed to score against the league leaders and Toronto, at home. They’ve not played each other for nearly a year but in the last 5 meetings, we’ve seen BTTS 3/5 times.
Toronto FC vs Real Salt Lake – BTTS (YES) – 12:30 AM BST, Sunday 2nd July
The second selection will be Toronto and Real Salt Lake. Toronto’s form is pretty poor recently. They’ve only won 1 in the last 5 at home and haven’t won any in the last 5 overall in the MLS. Whilst they are having trouble recently scoring goals, Real Salt Lake are both scoring and conceding for fun and that is what makes me think we’ll see both teams scoring.
Real Salt Lake have conceded in 4 of the last 5 matches and in all four of those, it’s been 2+ goals conceded. Away from home, Salt Lake have a good record of wins with 4 wins from 5 and has not been beaten in that period but they do concede with every one of those 5 matches failing to have a clean sheet.
The last head-to-head lends itself to goals with a 2-2 draw and the last 3 matches between the two have seen over 2.5 goals, also.
FC Cincinnati vs New England Revolution – BTTS (YES) – 12:30 AM BST, Sunday 2nd July
FC Cincinnati are top of the Eastern Conference and have won their last 5 home matches in a row. They’ve scored 12 in those 5 matches and have only conceded 3 whilst also keeping 3 clean sheets in their last 5 games.
However, I think New England will have a goal in them. They’re 2nd in the Eastern Conference and will be looking to close the gap. New England also have good form and haven’t lost in their last 5 matches. They’ve also won their last 3 games played. All 3 have been at home but they’ve scored 8 goals in their last 3 and 11 in their last 5.
Head-to-head stats show that these two have met 4 times. We’ve seen two draws and a win each. They’ve met twice in 2023. 4-0 to Cincinnati and most recently a 1-1 draw. In the 4 head-to-heads, we’ve seen BTTS in 3 of them.
Sporting Kansas City vs Vancouver Whitecaps – BTTS (YES) – 1:30 AM BST, Sunday 2nd July
Sporting Kansas City lost last weekend’s match to Chicago Fire by a 1-0 score but it was the first time they’ve not scored at home for 6 matches. Kansas do tend to score goals and are currently 11th in the Western Conference. They take on Vancouver Whitecaps, who are 9th in the Western.
Vancouver scored 3 against Los Angeles in their 3-2 win and were 3-0 up in the first half. The Whitecaps have scored for fun in the MLS, with 12 goals scored in their last 5 matches. Whilst their record for winning isn’t strong away from home, they still score goals and have only failed to score once in their last 5 MLS away matches.
In what could be a very close match, I think we’ll see both teams scoring. It’s happened in half of the 4 head-to-heads between the two teams.
