Let’s turn our attention to ‘Both Teams To Score’ markets as I attempt to pick out an accumulator over this weekend of Major League Soccer action. Last weekend was a similar story in that one team let us down. So close to the 14/1 hit. If you bet with some of the best betting sites for these tips then you can get your stake returned as a free bet when one lets you down with some bookmakers. It tends to happen a lot with the MLS recently. Let’s get started.
New England Revolution vs DC United – BTTS (YES) – 12:30 AM BST, Sunday 16th July
My first selection is the New England Revolution and DC United match. New England Revolution have played 22 matches this season and have a 64% hit on both teams scoring. If we look at the home record alone, then that stat rises to 73%. Highlighted by the fact that they’ve scored in each of their last 12 home MLS matches in a row.
DC United have played 23 matches and have seen ‘Both teams To Score’ hit 13 times. A 57% hit rate. It’s 50% when you look at just the away record. However, DC United have scored in 4 of the last 5 away matches and 7 out of the last 10 games played. We’ve also seen BTTS in 7 out of the last 9 away matches for them.
Minnesota United vs Los Angeles FC – BTTS (YES) – 1:30 AM BST, Sunday 16th July
Minnesota United have a 57% strike rate with the ‘Both Teams To Score’ stat this season. They’ve seen this happen in 12 of their 21 matches. However, if we go purely on the home record, then that stat shoots up to 78%. Minnesota have scored in 9 of their last 10 matches and we’ve seen BTTS in 7 out of the last 9 also.
Los Angeles have a 50% BTTS strike rate across the park. That stat sticks whether it be home or away. They’ve gone through a bit of a rough spell recently but they’re still scoring away with 6 out of the last 8 seeing the away team hit the back of the net.
Portland Timbers vs Columbus Crew – BTTS (YES) – 3:30 AM BST, Sunday 16th July
Portland Timbers were held away 0-0 to Colorado Rapids today but, at home, they’ve scored in 4 of the last 5 matches and 8 of the last 10 games. Whilst their home stats on ‘BTTS’ is currently at 60%, we can see that in the last 10 matches, 80% of the time, they’ve scored. That puts the onus on Columbus Crew.
Luckily, Columbus Crew are THE team for ‘Both Teams To Score’ and boast an 80% hit rate. That’s away from home too. 5 out of the last 7 matches for Portland finished with both teams scoring. 5 out of 5 and 8 out of the last 10 have seen both teams hit the net, away from home, for Columbus.
Vancouver Whitecaps vs LA Galaxy – BTTS (YES) – 3:30 AM BST, Sunday 16th July
The final selection is the Vancouver Whitecaps taking on LA Galaxy. Vancouver have scored in the last 7 home matches in a row and 9 out of the last 10 games. They are currently at 67% hit rate for ‘Both Teams To Score’ and this looks very much to be a case of if LA Galaxy can score or not.
LA Galaxy went through a period away from home where they didn’t score for five straight matches (between March 2023 and May 2023) and that means that their seasonal stats of both teams scoring is a lowly 36%. The reason being that they were being beaten away, without reply.
However, since then, they’ve scored in three of the following five matches. Also, Vancouver tend to concede goals. They’ve conceded 8 goals in the last 5 matches. On the whole, LA Galaxy have scored in 4 of the last 5 games and so as long as they can hit the net on their travels then this should be OK. The two teams have met 8 times and 6 of those matches have been in the last 3 years. Of those 6 matches, we’ve seen BTTS five times, including the most recent 1-1 draw.
