On Sunday at 4pm BST, Manchester City will host Chelsea at the Etihad. Manchester destroyed Real Madrid to get to the Final of the Champions League and extended their unbelievable home record even further. They are likely to rest a few players for this but this team has such depth that I’m not sure it will weaken them too much. Chelsea come into this with some slightly improved form but are still struggling.
Below, I have provided my expert football betting tips, trends, and analysis for the game.
Good Times Continue to Roll at the Etihad
Manchester City continued such fantastic form at The Etihad during mid-week when they thrashed Real Madrid. Real had no answer to the constant pressure they were under and showed little fight or resilience against big guns, City. Manchester City has pretty much won the title but if they win this one then it will all be ‘official’ and that’s something they’ll want to do at home. This is their final home match of the season so I think we’ll see a team going out to win, here.
I think we’ll see some rested players in this with the likes of Haaland and Silva perhaps being rested to the bench. When you have such high-quality players like Alvarez and Mahrez to come in then it’s not such a big deal to leave these players out.
I’ve gone over the home form of Manchester City many times. Unbeaten in many years in the Champions League and unbeaten in the Premier League since a shock defeat to Brentford back in November of last year.
Chelsea Scoring Again But Without Much Success
Chelsea have now gone unbeaten in their last 2 but they’ve been against Bournemouth and a draw with Nottingham Forest. They still find themselves out of the top half of the table and conceding too many goals. They are still a far cry from the Chelsea of old and lack massive confidence when they play. They have nothing to play for in this match apart from pride and sometimes that means players can be free to express themselves. However, Chelsea has been in that position for a while now and I’m not sure that Man City will allow it.
Chelsea has this match remaining along with an away tie with Manchester United. Completing the season at home to Newcastle. It’s not the best 3 fixtures to finish a poor campaign. They could quite easily see themselves in their lowest position since back in 1994 when they finished 14th.
Chelsea have only won 2 of their last 8 matches. However, those 2 matches have been in the last 4 away matches. They are showing some improvement but they’ll have to step up several gears in this one to be competitive
Head-to-Head Meetings
These two met in January in the FA Cup and City thrashed Chelsea by a 4-0 score. Manchester City have won the last 5 matches in a row and has not conceded 1 goal in those 5 matches whilst scoring 9 in the process.
Man City vs Chelsea Betting Tips
I can’t see past a Manchester City win here and I think it’s possible that they win to nil too. I couldn’t decide between the ‘to nil’ bet or betting on Manchester City on some kind of handicap bet. We’ll stay safe with the handicap bet so here are my Man City vs Chelsea betting tips.
Manchester City (-1.5 handicap) to beat Chelsea 8/11 Bet365
Manchester City (-2.5 handicap) to beat Chelsea 2/1 Paddy Power
