We have a very disjointed weekend of football this weekend. With FA Cup Quarter Finals across Saturday and Sunday, we have just the 5 premier league matches this weekend. One is the 5.30 pm match at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea host Everton. Nevertheless, we have enough there to get stuck into our Weekend Premier League Accy. Here are my top accumulator tips on the weekend’s action.
ASTON VILLA vs Bournemouth (3PM, GMT, Saturday)
I’m going to start with Aston Villa taking on Bournemouth, at Villa Park. Both of these teams have won 2 of their last 4. Bournemouth, coming off the back of a very suprising win over Liverpool, doesn’t have the best away record. They beat Wolves Feb 18th. But that’s 1 win away in the last 10. Aston Villa are decent at home and have won 2 of their last 4. The losses were against Arsenal and Leicester. In both of those defeats they scored 2 goals and still lost. I feel like Bournemouth would need atleast 3 goals to win this match and I don’t see them doing that.
One key stat for Bournemouth away, is that they’ve conceded in 12 of their 13 away matches. In fact, 67% of the points that they’ve accumulated have been at Home. It says it all about the away form. They’ve lost 9 of the 13. Aston Villa have scored in each and every one of their last 13 matches. With Ollie Watkins in such good form and with those stats in mind, it looks like a home win for Villa
BRENTFORD vs Leicester (3PM, GMT, Saturday)
Leicester come into this match on a downward turn of form. They’ve now lost four in a row and scored just one goal in those 4 matches combined. Conceding eight. Its a stark contrast to the Leicester side that was scoring for fun just a month or so ago. Brentford have won 3 of their last 4 home matches. Drawing the other. They’ve also conceded just 3 goals in those 4 matches. Infact the home form for Brentford spans out further than that. They’ve still not lost at home since September of last year. To Arsenal.
One of those 3 wins was the 3-1 beating of Liverpool and then two wins to nil. 2-0 against Bournemouth and 3-0 against Southampton. I think Brentford look a good thing here.
WOLVES vs Leeds (3PM, GMT, Saturday)
My third and final pick will be Wolves at home, to beat Leeds. Wolves have won 3 of their last 4 at home now. Conceding just one goal in those 4 matches. That’s quite an achievement for a team like Wolves. That kind of form would leave us impressed even if it were a top 4 team. They’ve been pretty average away from home but they’ve now beaten Spurs and Liverpool in 2 of their last 3 home matches. Oddly enough the loss was against Bournemouth.
Leeds currently sit 19th and just one point from the foot of the table. They’ve won just 1 away match this season. 1 win in 13 and 9 defeats. Ironically that one win was against Liverpool but it came back in October of last year. I’d expect Wolves to come through this.
