EPL BTTS Tips (26/12/22)
Brentford vs Tottenham
The first game on our list is an all-London affair as mid-table Brentford entertain Champions League-chasing Tottenham at the Brentford Community Stadium. The home side have lost just 1 of their last 6 league games and they’ll look to extend that against a travelling team who have struggled for consistency in the league as of late.
Both teams have scored in each of the last three league games involving the Bees and we fully expect that run to continue here. Spurs have not only seen both teams scoring in each of their last 4 league matches but those games have averaged 4.5 goals per game.
Crystal Palace vs Fulham
Crystal Palace versus Fulham may not be a fixture that has generated many goals in recent meetings but there is a reason for them being included here. In fact, only 1 of the last 4 head-to-head meetings have seen both teams score.
However, only 5 of the 7 home games played by the Eagles have delivered a BTTS outcome. The last 6 league away matches that the Cottagers have played in have also seen both teams score. There is just a feeling that this game could buck the recent head-to-head trend.
Southampton vs Brighton
Next up we have a south coast clash that will see newly appointed Southampton manager Nathan Jones take on his former employers in Brighton. Neither team is in particularly confident form right now so it feels like a ripe choice to pick for a game where goals will be scored.
The Saints have seen both teams score in each of their last 4 games across all competitions. It’s a rebuilding process under Jones and he openly admits things could get worse before they get better. The Seagulls are also experiencing an evolution under Roberto De Zerbi who succeeded Graham Potter. Both teams scored in the last 5 Brighton matches in all competitions.
Aston Villa vs Liverpool
Our final BTTS pick from the Premier League is another Boxing Day clash when an improving Aston Villa will welcome Champions League qualification hopefuls Liverpool to Villa Park. It’s a fascinating clash given where these two teams are in the form table. Unai Emery’s men have won back-to-back league games since the Spaniard took charge. They will certainly fancy their chances on home turf against a Reds team that haven’t got anywhere close to finding the consistency in the league they showed in previous seasons.
It’s a simple decision for this one. 4 of the previous 5 meetings across all competitions between these two teams have seen both teams score. Neither defence is looking overly resolute at the minute. It remains to be seen if that will still be the case after this break for the World Cup but the odds being offered on both teams to score seem appealing enough.
