On Saturday 13th May at 12:30 pm Leeds take on Newcastle in what is a huge match for the Whites. If Leeds lose this then it’s very likely that they’ll be at least 3pts away from escaping the relegation zone with just 2 matches to play. Below are my best football tips that look like value to me.
Whites ready to fight for survival
It looks like a hell of a job for Big Sam. Leeds are 2 points in the relegation zone but with a worse goal difference than both Leicester in 18th place and Everton in 17th position. It means they are effectively 3 points away from the outskirts. They need a result here with West Ham and Tottenham to come.
Sam Allardyce’s men put up a good fight against Manchester City but I think most Leeds fans will see this as the start of their hope of survival. Leeds have only won 1 match in their last 8 and there seems to be a real lack of firepower. Something you need even at the bottom end of the table. With that being said though, Leeds have scored in their last 10 matches in a row and if they can keep things watertight at the back then they have every chance of grinding something out at Elland Road.
Newcastle looking to bounce back
Newcastle went down 2-0 to Arsenal last weekend and that has put a slight dent into what looked like guaranteed Champions League football next season. Newcastle sit 3rd in the league but is just 2 points clear of Manchester United and just 3 points clear of Liverpool. If they lose this match, there is every chance that they could see themselves falling to 4th and looking over their shoulder. Which is when the doubts start surfacing.
Newcastle have so much firepower at the moment and Leeds really lacks that firepower. If we were just looking at pure numbers and stats then you’d have to say that Newcastle should win this with ease. The Premier League has a way of getting these shock results come through every now and again though and it wouldn’t really shock me if we saw Newcastle give another flat performance.
Head-to-head meetings
In the last 4 matches between the pair, Leeds have won just once, back in January 2021, 2-1. We’ve seen a 1-1 and 0-0 since then and a 1-0 win for Newcastle. We’ve not seen a great deal of goals in this fixture and that could well be the case again with Big Sam sitting in deep as he can to ‘not lose instead of going out to win.

I think this has the look of a snatch-and-grab type win but I also appreciate that Newcastle have so much firepower and attacking threat that they look very likely to grab a goal. I think the best bet for me here is for Both Teams To Score. As mentioned, Leeds have scored back-to-back now in 10 matches whilst Newcastle always get a goal, also.
I also feel like if Newcastle are level after around 60 minutes that they are the team to go on and grab victory and the 11/5 on them winning and BTTS also appeals.
