On Sunday, at 4.30pm, Tottenham take on West Ham, at White Hart Lane in the Premier League. It’s a huge match for both teams but West Ham find themselves in the relegation zone now that Everton have beaten Leeds. Spurs currently sit outside of the top 4 and they are lucky not to be 5 points adrift after Newcastle suffered a disappointing loss to Liverpool on Saturday afternoon. Here is my Tottenham vs West Ham betting preview.
Tottenham solid at home but concede too many
Tottenham sit 7th in the home form table, which is quite unexpected for a team challenging for Champions League spots in the league. They have won 7 of 11 though and lost 4 so if they got a couple of draws from those losses then they could quite easily be around the top 4 of that table. They’ve scored freely at home with 22 goals scored from 11 home league games but they also concede in high numbers, with 15 conceded in those 11 matches. They will be without goalkeeper Hugo Lloris for this match, whilst the likes of Romero is back from suspension.
Hammers improving but miss key men
West Ham sit 18th in the away league and have only won once this season on their travels. Their biggest issue is simple. They don’t score enough. They’ve scored just 7 goals away this season, in 11 matches yet conceded 14. It’s right down there with the worst away form in the league. They are missing Lucas Paqueta and Gianluca Scamacca for this match and they could also potentially be missing Aguerd. They’re key men for West Ham to lose and they’ll hope Aaron Cresswell comes back into the defence.
Spurs hold the better record in this match but could be a close one
Spurs got a 3-1 win here last season whilst it was a 1-1 draw at West Ham. The two teams have faced each other 53 times in the Premier League, and we’ve seen some thrilling matches but ultimately Spurs have won 25 out of those 53. There have been 11 draws with West Ham coming out on top 17 times. Spurs have conceded at least one goal in 8 of their 11 home matches whilst West Ham have let in at least one goal on their travels in 10 of last 11 away games. These are stats that firmly point to both teams scoring in this game and you’d have to say that Tottenham edge it as favourites.
Tottenham vs West Ham betting tips
West Ham have seen under 2.5 goals in 77% of their away matches this season but I think they’ll score tomorrow. Spurs let in a lot of goals at home and it’s a huge London Derby match. I can see both teams scoring in this match. I will also add a Spurs win, with both teams scoring. Ultimately I see this match being 1-1 around the 60-minute mark and perhaps a team nicking it at the end. I think it’s worth very small stakes on West Ham stealing it, also. Bet365 offer 18/1 of West Ham winning 2-1 so that might be something worth considering if you’re looking for a cheeky bet backing the away team.
