There is a tasty looking 6 matches in the 3pm slot this weekend in the top flight of English football and with those matches we can really drill down on solid picks and hopefully pick out a winning accy for the Saturday action. Here are my weekend Premier League accumulator tips for this latest round of EPL matches.
BRENTFORD vs Crystal Palace (3pm GMT, Saturday)
We start at the Gtech as 8th in the league Brentford host 12th-place Crystal Palace. Brentford got a great point away to Arsenal last weekend whilst Crystal Palace got a draw, at home to Brighton. This means that Palace have still not won in 2023. Brentford have not lost in the league since October and they haven’t lost at home since September. They are top of the form table (last 8 matches) with 5 wins and 3 draws. Whilst Palace have 1 win in the last 8. I think I have to pick up Brentford as a solid pick to get us started.
EVERTON vs Leeds (3pm GMT, Saturday)
Next up, I’m picking Everton to beat Leeds. Now, Everton have managed to win just 3 of their 11 home matches this season and have scored just 10 in the process. Only Southampton have a worse home record. However, since Sean Dyche has arrived at Everton, they’ve beaten Arsenal 1-0 at home and lost to Liverpool 2-0 away. The win over Arsenal was huge and they played really well, too. Everton have always had a solid home record and hopefully now with Dyche in charge then that solidness could return.
Even with Liverpool completely out of form right now they were going to raise their game against Everton. It was the Merseyside Derby and they did raise their game. Klopp said that Liverpool were back to themselves so I feel like we can ignore that result for Everton. This match is the big one. They’re back at home and they face a Leeds side that have only won 1 away game this season. The winner gets out of the relegation zone so there will be no shortness in desire.
WOLVES vs Bournemouth (3pm, GMT, Saturday)
Bournemouth sit 2nd bottom of the league and have won just 1 away game this season. They also sit bottom of the away form league and have scored just 9 in 11 and conceded a massive 32 goals. 7 more than the next worse. Wolves are by no means massive scorers and have 9 goals in 11 home matches this season. They have 4 home wins out of 11. If we look at the two teams in terms of recent form, Wolves have won 50% of their last 8 matches whilst Bournemouth have won just once. Wolves have to be the pick here.
CHELSEA vs Southampton (3pm, GMT, Saturday)
We complete this four fold with Chelsea. Southampton are now bottom of the league and look like strong candidates to be relegated. They have just one win in the their last 8 matches and have let in 21 goals away this season. Chelsea have just lost to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League and that did put me off backing them initially. However, I think they can be trusted to complete the four fold.
They have a decent enough home record, winning half of their matches. Losing 2 and only conceding 7 in those 10 home matches. There have been 5 occasions now this season where Southampton haven’t scored away from home and so despite Chelsea’s own issues with strikers, with Felix now looking the prospect we expect, I think Chelsea win by a couple and likely keep a clean sheet.
