As normal, I’ll give my best bets for the Premier League weekend matches. This time the picks are for both teams to score. We’re in the penultimate weekend of the season and things are getting very serious for teams fighting out for Champions League positions and fighting for escape from relegation. Let’s get started with my weekend Premier League BTTS tips for this coming weekend.
Tottenham vs Brentford – BTTS (YES) – 12:30pm BST, Saturday
I start with Tottenham taking on Brentford. A big match for Spurs and one that I think they’ll probably win at home. Ryan Mason’s team have only failed to score, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, twice this season. Brentford have failed to score away from home 7 times this season. Tottenham have seen BTTS in 56% of their home matches this season whilst Brentford have seen BTTS away 44% of the time.
Tottenham have kept 6 clean sheets this season. In an important game for Spurs, and with Brentford’s decent form this season, I think we’ll see both scoring.
Liverpool vs Aston Villa – BTTS (YES) – 3pm BST, Saturday
Next up, Liverpool taking on Aston Villa. Another important match as Liverpool needs the 3 points in their fight for Champions League qualification. I spoke about the match in my weekend accumulator as I think Liverpool will go on to win this match but Unai Emery’s team are always dangerous and score a lot of goals.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have only lost once at home this season and only failed to score once this season, too. They have a 50% clean sheet record at home but Aston Villa have only failed to score away 6 times this season. Villa have not scored away in back-to-back matches but they’ve been against very solid home teams (Wolves and Manchester United) and, prior to that, they have scored away for 9 matches in a row.
Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal – BTTS (YES) – 5:30pm BST, Saturday
The third pick is Nottingham Forest versus Arsenal. The title is as good as gone and now it will be interesting to see how the Gunners react. They could come out here flying or it could be a complete ‘clock off’ and they could lose again. Either way, I think Forest have enough to score in the evening match.
The Tricky Trees have only failed to score at home this season twice. It’s a stat that would surprise most and it’s probably the main reason that they’re in a decent position for staying up this season. Steve Cooper knows his team needs a point here at least really. Although having the points in the bank helps them, of course. Arsenal have failed to score away just once. The stats point to both teams scoring.
West Ham vs Leeds – BTTS (YES) – 5:30pm BST, Sunday
The final selection is West Ham hosting Leeds. I think West Ham could be vulnerable in this match. They have the Europa League Semi-Final on Thursday away from home and will then have to pick themselves up to go again very quickly. They also don’t really need the points as they’re safe. Leeds have looked good since Big Sam Allardyce has stepped in and they’re scoring goals.
West Ham are better at home and have only failed to score 4 times this season at the London Stadium. Leeds have failed to score away 6 times.
