Since its inception, Punters Lounge has been driven by the vision of being the only place for true punters to be.
This was the vision of our previous owner, the late Paul Ross, himself is a “punter”, who placed his first bet a long time ago in 1994. Under the present ownership of TAG Media, we have carried this torch to ensure that Punters Lounge remains quite different as a company, where so many are just big media companies with no real heart or soul, just money making machines.
Punters Lounge is different, it always has been and always will be. With an online and offline community (Punters Lounge Racedays & Poker Nights), there’s one thing that is defining of Punters Lounge being great, and that is the members who post on the forum, it is those people who are the greatest contributors and we recognise that.
2000
Early Punters Lounge
Originally Punters Lounge was only a football betting forum, but it quickly became known for
being the home of the smarter punter, and helping new members to also become better punters, something it
has continued to do over the years and will always do.2005
Change of ownership
Ollie Ormiston was the original owner of Punters Lounge and he did a great job, before he joined
the army and sold the website to Paul Ross. Due to Ollie’s new found priorities it was now
Paul’s job to take the website further, but that couldn’t be done single handed. It required the
help of all the members and moderators.Early 2011
More than a forum
We decided PL needed to be more than just a forum, so we hired writers to give betting previews
every day on all sports and horse racing. We also have unique football ratings, a type of rating
that no other site has to this day and they can be found on the Punters Lounge home page.2011
Integration & Major Upgrade
2011 saw a major upgrade of the site, and integrating 3 sites into 1 and of course nothing ever
goes smoothly with major upgrades and for a week it was a nightmare! However, we worked
tirelessly through the bugs and we ended up with a much more professional and integrated
website, that would allow us to expand further, rather than the limitations the old site had.We expanded our football forums from 7 to 40, to make things easier for members and visitors to
find and this has worked very well, making us the biggest football betting forum in the world
without question and the most well structured.2018
The PL Vision
2018 really was a watershed moment for Punters Lounge. We had to change, become bigger and
better at everything we do, give our visitors much more than we’ve ever offered, however the
task was enormous with a complete redesign and site architecture needing to be overhauled, much
of which the visitor never sees.2022
Carrying the Torch
Ahead of his sad passing, Paul Ross entrusted Tom Galanis, a long trusted industry partner with whom he had collaborated since 2005, to take over the reins of the site’s management. Under Tom’s company, TAG Media Limited, and with the continued support of the community moderators and content contributors, Punters Lounge has moved with the times, on a new site architecture, adding new features, but all the while staying true to the PL Vision for being, and continuing to build towards remaining, the only place for a true punter to be.
