1-58 @ Lingfield – GLOBAL STYLE (8/1)
Not many any this field had enjoyed much success on the polytrack as they probably ought to have. However, one that has won on it twice is Global Style. He won at Chelmsford last May and followed that up with another victory at Lingfield just a couple of months later. He was given a near six-month break between August and January and when he returned he looked very much in need of the run.
Just a week later he came out again at Kempton and finished within three lengths of the winner. That hinted that a true return to form was not far away and he can make the most of this tried and tested opposition today. Rossa Ryan is back on board and he has been successful on him before. The young jockey is riding out of his skin at the moment (six alone in just the last few days) and surely there is more to come here.
2-45 @ Uttoxeter – GUETEPAN COLLONGES (9/2)
Dulcet Spirit got his career on track with a first ever win over this course and distance last time out in an apprentice handicap race. For a race of its nature, he won by a commanding four lengths defeating useful veterans in the process such as Suzi’s Connoisseur and Come On Girl. With a newly found confidence, the Brett Johnson trained four-year-old can follow up that win under the same seven-pound claimer in Kaiya Fraser. This is still very much their level and a two-pound rise in the handicap shouldn’t prove too disadvantageous.
4-50 @ Lingfield – ARLECCHINO’S GIFT (20/1)
Arlecchino’s Gift is beginning to drop down towards a dangerous handicap mark that Mark Usher can take full advantage of. The fact that he heads the weights in this line-up suggests that the field is well exposed and have become somewhat disappointing. He is a former course and distance winner though and Musaytir is the only other rival to have done that in this field. Arlecchino’s Gift has won two of his last three starts over this course and distance and this is the first time he has raced here since last May. A return to this venue could just reignite the spark and in a field that hardly yells of enthusiasm, he looks the sensible choice.
