12-55 @ Wolverhampton – WRECK IT RYLEY (9/2)
Wreck It Ryley has been in good form since making his debut on the racecourse back in January. He has produced solid performances in each of his last three starts including at Southwell where he got up to win over this minimum trip of five furlongs. He was then placed on the next two occasions at this track when partnered by todays’ jockey Sam James. A step back to five furlongs should be very much in his favour and off the same mark as last time, he can make a big impact on this field.
13-35 @ Ayr – NINETOFIVE (7/1)
Ninetofive has shown ability in all four previous starts for Sandy Thompson and Ryan Mania. Last seen out in November, he has been given a few months off to tackle handicaps for the first time. Much of this field are beginning to look exposed now and it would be of little surprise if he were to prove too good of a decent opening handicap mark of 98. The yard are certainly firing on all cylinders at present and he can maintain their good form with a bold run here.
15-20 @ Ayr – MAIMIE’S MAGIC (7/2)
Maimie’s Magic has revelled in the muddy conditions that she experienced at Kelso and more recently at Newcastle. The Stuart Crawford trained mare has improved since switching to handicaps run over an extended two miles and the booking of Champion Jockey Brian Hughes certainly catches the eye. The recent snow and rain will have really gotten into the ground so that should assist her in what is most likely her most competitive opposition to date. The form of that most recent win is working out as the fourth placed Ravenscar has subsequently come out to win at Doncaster. She has to have every chance of taking this prize back across the Irish Sea.
15-55 @ Ayr – GLITTERING LOVE (4/1)
Glittering Love showed a much improved effort last time when beaten less than two lengths by Rath An Iuir. The eleven-year-old gelding is a frequent flyer here at Ayr and is a multiple course and distance winner. He absolutely loves it when the ground is testing as his three previous wins here over the course and distance have proven. Brian Hughes was on board for all of those victories and he is now only two pounds higher than his last winning mark. Without a win since December 2021, his time must be near at hand.
