Who are the top 3 winners of the Grand National?
Red Rum won the race three times in the 1970s and is recognised as the greatest National winner of all time although Golden Miller won 5 Gold Cups in the 1930s and is the only horse to win both the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the National. In recent years, Tiger Roll must get an honourable mention as a dual back-to-back winner.
Who is the most famous Grand National winner?
That has to be Red Rum, trained by Ginger McCain on Southport Beach and a triple winner in 1973, 1974 and 1977 having also come runner-up in the two intervening years 1975 and 1976.

Since its inception, 13 mares have won the race but the last came some 72 years ago in 1951 with Nickel Coin.

George Stevens, an English jockey won the race five times way back in the 1850s and 1860s.

Kim Bailey’s Mr Frisk won the 1990 Grand National in 8 minutes and 47 seconds when run on firm ground and despite the distance being shortened by 342 yards in 2013 still holds the record.
Has a grey ever won the National?
Yes, three greys have won the National, The Lamb back in 1868 and 1871, Nicholas Silver in 1961 and most recently Neptune Collonges in 2012.
