A maximum sized field of sixteen for the 1M 6F class 2 Copper Horse Handicap won last year by Vauban. Vauban’s trainer Willie Mullins has Belloccio entered this year having made a winning stable debut in a Punchestown maiden hurdle having joined from David Menusier. He has to be of interest with William Buick booked but it’s the likely second favourite Fox Journey that takes my eye. He looked a much improved performer when scoring by eleven lengths in a Newmarket handicap over 1m 4F on his re-appearance last month and although he has been raised a hefty 9lb may still have some improvement in him stepping back up in trip now. Ryan Moore takes the ride and he’s the pick here. I do also have healthy respect for the dual purpose horse My Mate Mozzie trained in Ireland by Gavin Cromwell who looks well treated on his latest exploits over the jumps and I expect him to also run well.
