The Jack Richards Novices’ Handicap Chase is a Grade 2 handicap chase registered as the Golden Miller Novices’ Chase that is replacing the Turners Novices’ Chase in the Cheltenham Festival schedule. The distance of the race is 2 miles and 4 furlongs of the new course. It is the second race of seven on day three of the Festival.
The race is a new one to the schedule but is effectively replacing the Turners Novices’ Chase. It was first introduced under that format back in 2011 when it was sponsored by Jewson. It was a Grade 1 National Hunt chase and has been registered as the Golden Miller Novices’ Chase.

The Jack Richards Novices’ Handicap Chase was won by Paul Nicholls’s Caldwell Potter in 2025. He was ridden by Harry Cobden and went off at odds of 7/1.
The winner of the 2025 renewal received £64,000 in first place prize money.
The Jack Richards Novices’ Handicap Chase is run as the second race of the Thursday of the festival.
There are seventeen fences to be jumped in total.
